How To Reduce Your Energy Bill:

During Winter:

  • Lower the thermostat at night and when away to 60 degree F
  • Replace furnace and air conditioning filter every 2 months
  • Seal any ceiling and wall penetrations around HVAC ducts and recessed lights
  • Seal around sewer vent pipe in basement and attic to keep in heated air
  • Install Honey comb insulating window blinds and drapers
  • Close storm windows and inspect all window seals
  • Close fireplace damper after fire is out to stop drafts and save money. If fireplaces are never used have a permanent insulation seal installed below the damper.
  • Install insulation box in attic over attic access to reduce cold air from attic entering the home

During Summer:

  • Use shades and drapes to block out direct sun during the day
  • Use programmable thermostat to reduce A/C load when away
  • Air seal and insulate properly around window A/C units to reduce warm from entering the home and cooled air from escaping the home
  • Install insulation box in attic over attic access to reduce warm air from attic entering the home
